We currently have two of our favorite hape blends in stock, both from the Nukini people. One is the very special White Rose blend and the other is their traditional blend.

We also have some Huni Kuin hape known as 7 hervas / & herbs tobacco and herbal blend for a very smooth and slightly lighter feel. We like to use this one before Kambo with its herbal healing influence.

See options to select varietal.

We recommend to book in person session(s) with us if possible to learn how to use hape and receive a healing session.

--------------

The Nukini tribe is an indigenous group located in the Brazilian Amazon, particularly in the state of Acre. They are part of the Pano linguistic family, which includes several other tribes in the region. The Nukini, like many other indigenous groups in the Amazon, have a rich cultural heritage deeply connected to their environment.

Other Names for the Nukini

The Nukini are sometimes referred to by the name "Nukini-Pano," which highlights their linguistic and cultural affiliation with the broader Panoan-speaking groups. However, "Nukini" is the most commonly used name.

Hapé (Rapé) and Its Preparation

Hapé, also known as rapé, is a sacred shamanic snuff used by many indigenous tribes in the Amazon, including the Nukini. It is made from a variety of medicinal plants, seeds, bark, and ashes, with tobacco (Nicotiana rustica) often being the primary ingredient. The preparation of hapé is a meticulous process that reflects the tribe's deep connection to nature and their spiritual practices.

How Nukini Make Hapé:

  1. Ingredients Gathering: The process begins with the careful selection of plants, seeds, and other ingredients, which are often harvested during specific times to ensure they possess the desired medicinal and spiritual properties.

  2. Drying and Grinding: The collected materials are dried, typically under the sun, and then finely ground into a powder using traditional tools, such as stone or wooden grinders.

  3. Mixing with Ashes: A crucial component of hapé is the ash from sacred trees or plants, which is mixed with the ground ingredients. The ash is believed to have cleansing properties and enhances the spiritual potency of the hapé.

  4. Blessing and Preparation: The mixture is often blessed by a shaman or elder in the tribe, invoking the spirits of the plants and the ancestors to infuse the hapé with spiritual energy. The final product is a fine, dry powder that is ready for use.

Use of Hapé: Hapé is typically administered through the nose using a special applicator, often in a ceremonial context. It is believed to help in grounding, clearing the mind, and connecting with the spiritual world. For the Nukini and other tribes, hapé is not just a medicinal substance but also a key element of their spiritual practices and rituals.
